This Perfect Sunday Routine Will Give You A Successful Week
Want to have an AMAZING week? Establishing a Sunday routine is vital for a successful week no matter how you define success.Â
In college, Sunday’s were always the day of doing recuperating (and doing all of my homework… I procrastinated). Now, as a young adult, I know the true value of Sundays.Â
Not only are Sundays the day of rest, but Sundays prepare you for the week ahead. As the first day of the week, they are essential for taking on the entire rest of the week.Â
You will learn all about how to use Sundays to your advantage. Sundays are powerful because with only a few short hours, the rest of your week can be transformed.Â
This post is all about how to have the perfect Sunday routine that gives you a successful week.Â
Benefits Of A Relaxing Sunday Routine:
1. Physically Recharge
Let’s face it, Monday through Friday is tough!! Waking up early for work, commuting, working out, making dinner, cleaning the house, there’s just so many things in such a short amount of time!Â
Our bodies NEED a break from the hustle and bustle. Establishing a relaxing Sunday routine will help your body prepare for the rest of the week.Â
2. Mentally Recharge
Along with physically recharging, your mind also needs a recharge. Allowing yourself to stop thinking about work, errands, and etc. can help you tremendously to recharge.Â
To mentally recharge, do something that you absolutely LOVE. Do you love reading, walking, playing music, sports? Doing what you love will help your mind be happy.
3. Reduces Stress
The busy life of Monday through Friday is bound to create a lot of stress. Taking a relaxing Sunday routine can help reduce your stress levels, so that you’re ready to take on the next week.Â
Reducing stress comes in different versions for different people. For some people working out may reduce their stress, for others meditating may reduce their stress.Â
How To Have A Relaxing Sunday Routine:
1. Meal Prep
Meal prepping might not be the first thing you think about when considering a “relaxing” day, but it will set you up for a successful week. Having food set for the entire week will save a lot of time during the week.Â
Instead of spending an hour a day to cook, spend a few hours on Sunday and you’re all set for the week.Â
To make the experience relaxing, play some music and have a cooking dance party. Also, if you find cooking naturally relaxing, then this won’t only relax you for the rest of the week, but Sunday too!
2. Church
Want to reset your mindset for the week? Attending a church service or mass will rejuvenate your mind. Every time I attend church, I leave in an amazing vibe, that is unmatched.Â
Finding yourself spiritually enhance your week, and renewing your spirituality weekly is essential. Besides weekly, consider praying daily for some extra rejuvenating.Â
3. Yoga
Yoga is the ultimate relaxing activity to do for your Sunday routine. If you deal with stress, yoga is your best friend! It helped me through really hard times in my life, and I will always do yoga on Sundays.Â
Sundays are resetter days, and resetting with meditating and stretching is the perfect thing to do! You should always make sure to do your favorite type of yoga! There’s yin yoga, vinyasa, hot yoga, power yoga, and so many more!Â
This might be obvious, but do the type of yoga that fits your vibe! If one week you want a deeper stretch, then dabble in yin yoga! If you are feeling more of a workout, then do some power yoga!!
4. Clean House
Alright, this might not be the most fun, but it will help you in having a successful week. Although it might not be fun, it totally can be fun if you incorporate music and/or podcasts!Â
When I clean, I blasts podcasts when I clean, which strangely makes me look forward to cleaning! Consider headphones so that you can still listen to music even with loud machines such as vacuuming!
5. Go To The Grocery Store
An essential part of meal prepping is attending the grocery store! To make grocery shopping even more fun, go to your favorite grocery store! If you love healthy foods, consider Whole Foods, if you love affordable foods, consider Aldi’s.Â
As someone who’s gluten free, Wegmans is my jam! Wegmans originated in New York, and it has the best gluten free, dairy free, and allergy free options.Â
6. Plan Your Week Ahead
I don’t know about you, but planning the week ahead relaxes me so much. Once I have a plan, I can settle down and get excited for what I have to accomplish.Â
Before I plan ahead, I’m always stressed and anxious totally unaware of the things I need to accomplish. Knowing everything will relax you and set you up for success.
7. Spa Day
Not only are spa days relaxing, but they can actually set you up for success. Relaxing your body and mind will help you be ready to take on the rest of the weeks work.Â
Spa days can consist of a deep wash of your body, getting your nails done, threading or waxing your eyebrows, getting a hair cut, doing at-home face masks, or anything that you qualify as a spa day.Â
Taking care of your body will physically recuperate your body for the week.Â
8. Take A Nice Walk
Taking a nice walk is good for both your mind and body. Walks have sooo many benefits that seriously everyone needs in their lives.Â
To learn all about the benefits of walking, check out my blog post on “The benefits of walking 1 hour a day for everyone who values their health.” In this blog post, you will learn the top 9 benefits walking offers.Â
Some of the top benefits include mental stability and a decrease of stress levels, which is why walking will provide you with a great start of the week.Â
9. Play An Instrument
For all of the musicians out there, you know how amazing it is to play an instrument. Instruments are help the mind so much and will make you relax.Â
Staring the week feeling relaxed will help you stay focused during the rest of the week. You need a day to relax before attacking the rest of the week.
10. Play Pickup Sports
Are sports your favorite de-stressor activity? Not only are sports high in cardio, which naturally releases happy hormones, but the socializing and fun aspect of it is great for happiness.Â
Starting the week with a fun activity such as sports will set you up for a great week. Making sure you enjoy yourself on the weekends are the perfect way to rejuvenate yourself for the week ahead.
11. Read
I believe there is a book for everyone, no ifs, what’s or buts!! There’s romantic books, science-fiction, fantasy, historical, adventure, and so many more!
For the ladies: if you want a mixture of fantasy and romance, a court of thorn and roses by Sarah Maas is my favorite book series ever!Â
12. Workout
Get your body moving with your favorite workout!! Likewise to books, there is a workout for everyone! If you love running, yoga, weight lifting, dancing, etc, there is something you can find and love.Â
My mom loves running, and my grandma loves dancing. So they have their favorite workouts and they absolutely love it. Participating in your favorite workout for a Sunday routine will rejuvenate your life and get your prepared for the tough week ahead.Â
Besides having fun, workouts literally improve so much. Moving your body gives you so many happy hormones that it helps your mind just as much as your body. If you are obsessed with working out, then this should be added to your Sunday routine!Â
13. Watch Sports
Sunday’s are the day of watching sports! Yes, girls watch sports too!! Hot take, but I really enjoy watching premier league soccer from England. I like it because I played soccer all of my life through college, so every morning I am so into it!
Besides soccer, there’s the obvious American football, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc! If you love sports, take a day to relax and watch your favorite sport teams!
14. Big Breakfast
You made it to Sunday, you deserve that amazing breakfast and/or brunch! Cook all of your favorite pastries, eggs, fruit, and more! Invite all of your friends over and have a wonderful brunch!
If you don’t feel like cooking, you can always go out. with your friends. Having a great time out with your friends can also be a great reset to your week. Anything that will rejuvenate your mind, should be apart of your Sunday routine!
15. Spend Time With Friends And Family
Spending time with friends and family is amazing for a Sunday routine. Sunday routines are all about resetting your week, and spending time with the people that you love is the perfect way to do that.Â
It’s amazing how being with people who you feel the most comfortable with can truly reset your week! The reset of the week will help you focus and have your most successful week!
