This post is all about THE one hour morning routine that will TURN you into a morning person.

Best One-Hour Morning Routine

1. Start With Making Your Bed

morning routine list

As an ex-military ted talker said “No matter how your day goes, if you make your bed in the morning, you’ve got a win”. No matter how south your day goes, at least you have one win for the day.

To be completely honest, I make my bed more for the satisfaction of having a clean room, but the idea of starting off the day with this win is very rewarding.

Making your bed only takes a few seconds, so doing this will give you a productive day, where you can accomplish anything.

You will be surprised at how differently your day goes when you make your bed, versus not making your bed!

2. Drink Bone Broth Or Any Healthy Gut Beverage

scientifically proven best morning routine

Why drink bone broth you may ask? Bone broth is SOO good for your gut health, and drinking it first thing in the morning does wonders to your gut.

If your gut is feeling good, YOU will feel so good. Seriously!!! Listen to this story..

As of today, it’s the day after my birthday. We have some leftover cupcakes. Long story short (the reason why I don’t keep sweets in my house) I ended up having TWO (gluten free) cupcakes for breakfast this morning!!! As you  can tell I have ~so much~ control…

The outcome?

I ended up feeling SO BAD today, and was TIRED, so I went back to bed. Then, when I FINALLY got up, I skipped the workout with my boyfriend, and watched Youtube! And lastly, when he came over later, I was in such a TERRIBLE mood.

What you consume during the day sets up the rest of your day. So be extra mindful in the morning, as it will determine the rest of your day, and stay healthy!

3. List Out What You’re Thankful For The Day

morning routine for success

Once you’re done treating your health, you should mindfully think about how thankful you are for the day. Your day will be so much better if you appreciate the day ahead.

When you go into something with a thankful mind, you always do so much better. This is because being thankful gives you a positive outlook on the day.

Would you rather have a positive or negative outlook on the day? If you start early with having a happy and positive outlook on the day, then the rest of your day will be so much better.

4. Read Something Motivational!

An essential part of your morning routine is reading something motivational

For me, I read a page out of my daily devotional book, and it’s kind of like a slogan to think of during the day.

I read a Christian devotional for motivation for the day, but rather you’re religious, spiritual, or not, there’s a motivational book for everyone.

If you do believe or are open to learning about the higher power, you will be surprised at how AMAZING a few words of wisdom from the creator of the  universe can transform your day.

If you are looking for some motivation for the day, then get a motivational book, and reflect on the slogan for the rest of the day.

5. Stretch Out Your Bodyyy

I’m a HUGE believer in the importance of stretching. Not only does it make us more flexible and is a great way to move our bodies after a long night’s sleep, but it actually wakes up your brain.

You might be awake, but it’s time to get your mind awake. This can be accomplished through stretching.

Rather it’s an intense morning stretch or some soft stretches (as I like to do)  they will help you wake up for the day ahead, and are one of the things that I look forward to most in the mornings.

6. Do Your Daily Skincare Routine

Now that your body and mind are awake, let’s clean your face!! Although stretching wakes up my mind, I still feel a little groggy until I wash my face in the morning.

Whatever your skincare routine is, stick to it, and your skin will thank you! For me, I ALWAYS wash my face, apply vitamin C, moisturize, and then add sunscreen.

If I’m feeling fancy I’ll add the steps that I wrote in “skincare routine”  , but I always at least do the four skincare routine steps in the morning no matter what. They just wake me up and help me feel clean and ready for the day.

Once your face is washed and ready, it’s time to move to the next step of the morning routine!

7. Eat A Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast AKA the BEST meal of the day, should always be filled of healthy foods!

As someone who LOVES breakfast foods (and just food in general) this is definitely one of my FAVORITE parts of the morning routine.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s SO important to eat a healthy breakfast, as it sets the tone of the day.

Not only does your breakfast set the tone for the day, but it typically dictates how healthy you will eat for the rest of the day. And we all know that eating healthy gives you SO MUCH energy to take on the day.

So make sure to eat healthy so you can have SO MUCH energy  to take on the rest of the day.

8. Take A Walk

morning routines and hacks

After eating your healthy breakfast, you should walk off your meal by going on a walk outside! Walking in the morning is one of the BEST thing that you can do to start off your day.

Not only is walking AMAZING exercise, but the sunlight that you get on your skin does wonders to your mood.

As someone who works in my basement and used to get sad SO easily, those minutes walking in the sunlight in the morning really do wonders for me.

Sunlight makes you happy because it increases the brain’s release of a hormone called serotonin, boosting your mood!

9. Listen To An Inspirational Podcast

One thing that I love to do during my walks is listening to a motivational podcast.

To be honest, I don’t do this every morning, as some mornings I feel like walking in silence, but other mornings I feel like listening to a podcast. You should always listen to your body, and do what it’s telling you.

Some days I listen to religious podcasts, some days I listen to healthy podcasts, and some days I listen to a blogging podcast.

The podcast and motivational videos vary on topics, but they are ALWAYS motivational podcasts that will inspire me to take on the day.

Piece of advice: Never listen to videos such as reality drama or the news, as the negativity can demotivate you from your day  ahead (been there.. done that).

10. Stay Hydrated And Drink Water!

morning routine checklist

The most important piece of advice, as staying hydrated is the thing that keeps us alive for longer than three days, is drinking your water!!

There’s many debates on what to add to water: should I add lemon? Should I add electrolytes? Should I add salt?

Honestly, add whatever makes you feel the best! (or whichever tastes the best)

I go back and forth between lemon water with salt and electrolytes, and electrolytes ALWAYS help me stay feeling so good, so energized, and have ZERO headaches. I use Re-Lytes, and they ALWAYS do the trick!

11. Do A Working Out

morning routine weekend

To be completely honest, this doesn’t fall into the one-hour morning routines, as working out can take as long as an hour. But, if you are a morning workout person, then you should definitely do this!!

I workout Tuesday and Thursdays in the morning, and I always have the best days. There’s something about working out in the morning that makes your body feel happy for the rest of the day.

So if you prefer working out in the mornings, make sure you get your morning workout in!

12. Make Sure To Wear Cute Clothes

morning routine chart

An essential part of a morning routine is picking out a BOMB outfit. Having a beautiful outfit will make you feel confident as you go throughout your day.

Just think about it, do you feel more confident when you’re wearing a cute outfit or a beautiful dress over wearing sweats?  More or less the answer’s yes!!

So don’t skip this step, and make sure you pick out an outfit where you can feel as confident as ever! And if you need more time in the morning, then consider picking out your outfit the night before!

13. Make Your Hair Nice

self care routine

As someone who has curly and frizzy hair this takes SO MUCH effort from me, but honestly the importance of this is crazy.

When I do my hair nice, I feel so confident and am so much more productive during the day. They say  that your hair is like “the bow on the present”. You can look decent but with a beautiful bow, you will always look amazing.

So rather you have difficult hair or easy hair to manage, do the extra work to make sure it’s looking good.

Even if that’s just doing a simple braid or putting it up in a ponytail, style your hair so you can be confident and take on the day.

14. If You’re Feeling It… Add Makeup

perfect morning routine

If you’re someone who feels more confident with a little bit of makeup, then wear the makeup!!

You shouldn’t go overboard with the makeup, but wearing some to cover your blemishes or in areas where you want a little pop is always a great idea.

For me, I still have acne scars, so I like to use foundation to cover them up. Whatever your thing is, mascara, eyebrows, lip gloss, apply them and feel confident!

15. End Your Morning Routine With Perfume

best morning routine for success

The last morning routine idea on this list is to make sure you smell good!!!

Rather this means taking a shower, putting on deodorant, or adding that perfume, your smell can really influence your day. Not to mention – it makes you feel cleaner!!

I always  apply my all natural amber rose perfume, and it’s just an extra layer to make me feel confident and ready for the day. The more confident you feel, the more productive you will be.

So make sure to add your perfume to your morning routine!!
