Best Things To Do For Mother’s Day
1. Horseback Riding
Imagine horseback riding with your mom on a romanticized trail in the forest, it doesn’t get much better than that! Perhaps maybe horseback riding on the beach. But this is a dream that I always wanted to do with my mom, and two summers ago I had the opportunity to do it.Â
My mom and I horse-backed up a mountain together and it was such a great time. I’ve never been a horseback rider, but the challenge of staying on a horse with my mom was transforming! We laughed and laughed and laughed the entire time.Â
If you are looking to do an activity out of your comfort zone then horseback riding is a great thing to do for Mother’s Day. If you and your mom are experience horseback riders, then enjoy your lovely hobby together!
2. Botanical Gardens
Botanical gardens are beautiful conservation areas filled with lovely plants and flowers. In my opinion, you have to be crazy to not want to go to one of these as they are absolutely gorgeous.Â
Your mom will probably love the beautiful gardens and the nature that it brings. It will bring out her inner cottage-core.
If your mom LOVES gardens, dresses, and all things spring, then consider getting her this BOHO Mother’s Day dress that sings spring! It’s comfy and something I highly considered getting my. mom for Mother’s Day!
3. Tea PartyÂ
Who doesn’t LOVE a good tea party? Even if you don’t like tea, the food will have you sold. The sandwiches, scones, and desserts are so delicious that my stomach is grumbling just thinking about them!
Tea parties are the perfect excuse to dress cute, wear a cute hat, and eat delicious food. Plus, enjoying your families company is unmatched. When I have tea parties with my family, we all arrive having conversation topics. Therefore, if the conversation ever dies down, there is someone waiting with a question to address the table.Â
You can either go to a local tea house, or you can create your own tea party. Unless you live in London, I think creating your own tea is much better than restaurants. Just be sure to follow the proper tea etiquettes and you’ll be all set!
My family has SO MANY tea hats, as we have a tea party every single Christmas. My favorite tea hats are the cute and affordable ones you can get on Amazon, they have a variety of different colors and suits everyone!
4. DIY Sundae Bar
Mother’s Day AKA cheat day is the perfect day for mom’s to splurge from their diet. If your mom loves ice cream, then build her the best sundae bar filled with ice cream, hot fudge, caramel sauce, whip cream, Oreo’s, brownie bites, and more!Â
If your mom is not a fan of sundaes, then make her a bar of something she is interested in. Perhaps she’s healthy and is obsessed with salads, or maybe she loves salty foods such as popcorn. Personalize the bar to your mom’s interests and let her splurge on Mother’s Day.Â
5. Hiking Day
With Mother’s Day being in May, the weather is perfect for hiking. It’s not too hot or too cold, rather just right. If you are struggling on where to find a hiking trail, the app AllTrails shows hiking trails near you that you probably don’t even know exist. After installing the app on my phone, I was shocked to learn about so many new hiking trails.Â
If your mom is a nature lover, loves exercising, or loves being around her family, then she will love the hiking trip. Mom’s love nothing more than being surrounded by their entire family, and there is no better place than in the beautiful nature!
As someone who got into hiking last fall, I can attest that hiking boots are ESSENTIAL! Although pricy, I have these exact Merrell hiking boots, and they are the BIGGEST game-changer! No more twisting ankles for me! They are so comfortable that I didn’t even know I could hike as long as I do now, thanks to these shoes!

As a women myself, I can attest that there’s no better feeling than laying out in the sun, getting hot, then getting into the cold water to cool off. May brings warm weather, and if the weather is pulling through, then go to the pool!Â
To make the pool day even more fun, consider brining your moms favorite snacks and drinks. I take back what I said earlier, there is something better than laying in the hot sun, and it’s snacking in the hot sun!Â
8. Farmers Market
May is PEAK farmers market season. If your mom is a nutritious guru, then she probably loves farmers markets too. Farmers markets are popular because they have local fruits and vegetables fresh at the peak growing season. The freshness is unmatched from groceries stores as most grocery stores ship their produce in from far destinations.Â
Instead of receiving fruits and vegetables from far destinations, farmers markets get their produce from local farmers who grow their fruits and vegetables naturally. Even if you aren’t looking to purchase any fruits and vegetables, farmers markets are so much fun just to walk around.Â
9. PicnicÂ
May is the season of flowers, so what better time is there to have a picnic than during flower season? None! Find a beautiful, nature spot and pack your mom’s favorite meal!

Does your mom love wearing perfume? Growing up, my mom wore the same perfume and it was the absolute best scent ever. Now, she’s more versatile and loves to change her scent up. To make things interesting, have a make your own perfume party!
You can make your own perfume by getting essential oils and combining them in a bowl. You can choose scents based on your favorite smells or based on their benefits. For example, I LOVE rose and amber smell so I would probably go for that scent.Â

14. Pickleball Tournament
Is your mom athletic and a fan of this fad? If yes, then having a pickleball tournament is the perfect idea. Get your entire family together and rotate partners or play singles to make the tournament even more competitive.Â
Pickle-ball is very popular and practically everyone I know said they’ve tried it at least once, and for good reason, it’s so fun!! Venture your paddles to the nets and surprise your on with a pickle-ball tournament this Mother’s Day.

What’s more relaxing than a nice, peaceful massage? A few Mother’s Days ago, my two sisters and I surprised my mom with a relaxing Thai massage experience. So make your parents favorite dish rather pancakes, eggs, bacon, muffins, and bring it upstairs! Don’t forget to add the tea or coffee!

After your mom’s hair is complete, another thing to do for Mother’s Day is going wine tasting. If your mom is a lover of wine, then she will absolutely love this Mother’s Day idea. Go to a beautiful winery and try out some new, delicious wines.Â
If you plan on staying at the winery for a while, then don’t forget to bring snacks! Make sure to include the cheese, crackers, and other charcuterie board items to make the entire experience meaningful on Mother’s Day.Â

The first way you can throw your mom a book club party is by surprising her with reading her favorite book. Then, you have a book club with her by talking all about your favorite characters and thoughts on the plot.Â
Another way to have a book club for Mother’s Day is to bring short stories to the party and read through them. After you read the short stories, you can play games and talk about interesting takeaways from the short stories.Â
20. Mani/PedisÂ
Another thing to do for Mother’s Day is getting mani/pedis! Getting manicures and pedicures is a bonding experience as you will ask each other for input on the color of nails, and talk the entire time.Â
This activity will maintain a long lasting gift for at least two weeks as your beautiful nails will be a reminder of your fun day together.Â
21. Take A Cooking Class
Taking a cooking class is the perfect thing to do for Mother’s Day, especially if your mom loves cooking! My mom has so many recipe books and loves to cook all different types of food, so this is something I’m highly considering gifting her this year.Â
Make sure that the item you are cooking in the class is something your mom is interested in. For example, if your mom is gluten free then make sure the food item is gluten free!
